Houses documentation from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, which integrates several collections of documents. The ones from notarial source, those related to Aleijadinho,Inconfidência Mineira, single manuscripts, manuscripts and printed codices, among others. Regarding the private documentation, there is the family archive of the first Baron of Camargos, prominent politician of the imperial period. Engravings, photographs and newspapers of the 19th century are also part of the collection.
All documentation has rich content for social and historical studies. The industry welcomes researchers from around the country and abroad. Numerous masters and doctoral theses, drawn from the research conducted at the institution, are part of the bibliographic collection of Museu da Inconfidência.
Computerized by Microisis/Unesco program, it has five databases, plus binders, inventories and listings. The sector is responsible for the description of documents, promotes the preservation and carries out technical visitations as well as collaborate with historical research.
The Historical Archive is located at Casa Setecentista do Pilar (18th-century house of Pilar), Annex III of the Museu da Inconfidência, at rua do Pilar, 76. The customer service is from Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., and 02:00 p.m. - 06:00 p.m. Access is unrestricted, subject to compliance with the safety and preservation standards of its heritage.
